About

Darius Viet, P.E., has served as a structural engineer in Kansas City since 2005. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in structural engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, he began his career at Burns & McDonnell, and worked in the Aviation & Federal division for 10 years. Projects included design aspects on aircraft hangars, aircraft manufacturing facilities, ramp services, multi-story buildings, central utility plants, and power plants.

Darius also served as an owner’s representative during construction. He performed on-site observation for five months during micropile installation for a 3X1 combined cycle power plant in Front Royal, VA. He spent one year in Doha, Qatar as project coordinator for an aircraft hangar at New Doha International Airport (NDIA).

In 2006, Darius met fellow structural engineer, Edward P. Hutson, Jr., through his local church. Ed Hutson, with Norton & Schmidt Consulting Engineers, has served the greater Kansas City area for more than 30 years and has performed more than 7,000 residential structural inspections. Darius worked with Norton & Schmidt for nearly two years, performing structural inspections along with residential and commercial design.

In getting to know Ed’s family, Darius met and later married Ed’s daughter. The couple enjoys life in the KC area with their children.

Through Viet Engineering, LLC, Darius is thankful for the opportunity to meet his clients’ structural engineering needs by building on a foundation of integrity.
